About the place

Adampur — also known as Kauargola Forest — is a forest beat within the Rajkandi Reserved Forest, about ten kilometres from Kamalganj in Moulvibazar. It is managed by the Bangladesh Forest Department.

What draws photographers here is its quiet. Adampur is secluded, with very little human presence compared with the better-known parks nearby. That makes it a place for specialist forest birding: long, patient sessions looking for shy species rather than a quick walk.

What we hope to photograph

There is no detailed published species list for Adampur that I could verify. General references mention the birds below; treat them as possibilities only:

  • Hill Myna, parakeets, doves and green pigeons
  • Jungle Babbler and junglefowl
  • Shy forest birds of the understorey and mid-canopy
  • Canopy birds feeding around fruiting and flowering trees
  • Raptors over the forest edge
  • Forest habitat and the quiet character of a little-visited place

Photography opportunities

  • Slow, specialist bird photography with long waits
  • Low-light photography in dense forest
  • Natural-behaviour images of birds undisturbed by crowds
  • Documentary images of a remote reserved forest

Recommended gear

  • A fast long telephoto lens for dim forest light
  • A camera body with strong high-ISO and autofocus performance
  • A monopod for long sessions
  • Camouflage-toned or dull clothing, insect repellent and plenty of water
  • Sturdy shoes for uneven paths

The field experience

This is an outing for photographers who enjoy patience. Paths can be uneven, the pace is slow, and success often means hours of quiet waiting for a single good encounter.

Because Adampur is remote and access has not yet been confirmed, this outing will only be offered once the Forest Department’s rules are clear.

Join the outing

Access still needs to be confirmed, so there is no outing to join yet. Register your interest and I’ll let you know if that changes. Dates, transport, accommodation, permits and any costs are confirmed individually before each outing.

Research & Field References

Species named on this page have been recorded here by others; none are guaranteed on any outing. References last checked November 2026.

How we work in the field

  • No call playback, baiting or luring — we wait for natural behaviour.
  • No approaching nests or roosts, and no handling wildlife.
  • We stay on permitted trails and respect protected-area rules and local communities.
  • No drones inside protected areas unless the necessary permission has been obtained.
  • Sightings are never guaranteed — wild animals keep their own schedule.
